WEARABLE ART CHALLENGE

Wearable Art, also known as Artwear or “art to wear”, refers to art pieces in the shape of clothing. Wearable Art is a creative and an expressive form of fashion where garments transcend mere functionality to become unique, artistically significant pieces, blurring the lines between traditional and practical clothing, while experimenting with a wide range of materials – metal, plastic, paper, wood, vinyl, spandex, fabric and so much more.

The Wearable Art is a work of art, not a costume or fancy dress and will be worn by models at the fashion show in Cleveland. Examples of wearable art can be found at the World of  Wearable Art™ (WOW) competition held annually in New Zealand. Wearable Art pushes artists’ originality and creativity to inspiring levels. We are looking for artists and designers who can establish a work of art using the usual and unusual materials.

Cash Awards will be presented for Best of Show, Jurors Choice, Best use of Material, & Best use of Color.

Featured Judge: David Walker, International Award-Winning Wearable Artist

My goal is to transform the static form of wood into a fluid wearable piece of art while emphasizing the natural beauty, color and grain of the wood.”
